In the year 2068, World War III broke out. It was an all out massacre. Many countries were forced to unite as one if they wished to defeat the enemies they faced. One of the united countries wanted a secret weapon to win the war. Scientists began to do tests on soldiers who were still considered too weak by the Generals' standards to genetically modify them.
One scientist found a mutation gene and began to experiment with it, until he created his masterpiece. A genetically modified super soldier who could morph into an animal. After they found this solution, they began to do this to hundreds of thousands of their soldiers until they won the war.
Once the war was won, they were forced to accept them into their society. People called them "Halfies" to represent their partially lost humanity. As their generations were passed down, the modified genetic code would often switch the animal at birth to something new, allowing them to be something other than a predator.
Centuries passed of equality, until 2392. Humanity wanted to rid itself of the "mutts" they had created centuries ago. A war broke out once more, reducing the planet's population by a third. In the end, no one had really won the war.
Even in the year 2400, the new century, tensions are incredibly high from the war. Most schools will be strictly human, or strictly halfie. Pinewood Academy is one of the few schools that allow both races to attend with full equality. The staff of the school try to repair the damage that had been caused by the war, to teach the students that they are the same.
...This is otherwise known as the safe haven...they want to fix it as much as we do...
